Royal Hospital Chelsea. King Charles II founded the Royal Hospital in 1682 as a retreat for veterans. Many ex soldiers at the Cape such as George DENNISON, Robert EMSLIE, Peter FEAGAN, Daniel FLINN, John PURDON, George SMITH and Thomas STERLEY drew their pensions from the Royal Hospital.
