Nottingham Castle. The 2nd Duke of Newcastle built a mansion on the site, which was burnt down by rioters in 1831 and left as a ruin. It was later rebuilt to house an art gallery and museum, which remain in use. The 4th Duke of Newcastle was a major sponsor of CALTON's Party, and he wrote numerous letters to the Colonial Office from his estate at Clumber Park.
