HUDSON, Mary - Extra Data

William Henry HUDSON applied to emigrate in HAYHURST's Party with his wife Mary, and sons James (born ca 1813) and Richard. Richard's gravestone in Bloemhof says he was born  on 21 March 1819 and died on 28 April 1897. William HUDSON (who appears as Henry on the settler returns) died on board the 'John' just before she sailed, and was buried in St.Mary Cemetery, Liverpool on the 8th January 1820. The address on the burial register was St.Thomas Buildings, the address used by Michael WHITLEY, the emigration agent who jointly organised HAYHURST's Party. Mary HUDSON decided to continue to the Cape with her two sons and her nephew, James ROBINSON. She later married George WHITEHEAD on 28 February 1822 in Bathurst.

William Henry, the son of Henry and Phoebe HUDSON was born March 15th and baptised April 1st 1781 in St.Mary, Sunbury on Thames.

Died at Cradock on the afternoon of Sunday the 17th inst, Mrs. Mary WHITEHEAD, aged 65 years, relict of the late Mr. George WHITEHEAD, leaving a numerous family to mourn the loss of a most affectionate and indulgent parent. Deceased was a Settler of 1820, having arrived in this Colony as one of HURST’s Party. Requiescat in Pace.
