Thomas YOUNGER of this parish and Sarah CRIPPS of Redriff in Surrey were married by licence on 9 February 1760 in St.Paul, Deptford

These are to certify that John YOUNGER the son of Thomas late of Rotherhithe in Surrey, Shipwright, deceased, was on the 7th day of April in the year 1778 bound an Apprentice at Barbers Hall in London to William CHAPMAN of the same place, Surgeon Citizen and Barber of London for the term of seven years from that day as appears to me by a Register for that purpose kept in my office Witness my hand the 10th day of December 1802

These are further to certify that John YOUNGER of Lower Queen Street Rotherhithe in the County of Surrey, Surgeon who was on the 7th day of April 1778 bound Apprentice to William CHAPMAN of Rotherhithe aforesaid, Surgeon Citizen and Barber of London for seven years was on the seventh day of December instant admitted to the Freedom of the Worshipful Company of Barbers of London by servitude on the Testimony of Jacob BONWICK of Barbers Hall, London Citizen and Barber and George SHAKESHAFT of the same place, Chymist Citizen and Lorimer and was sworn, Witness my hand the 10th day of December 1802

Note: Many sources in South Africa have John YOUNGER as being baptised in St.George in the East to a John and Elizabeth YOUNGER. His mother is almost certain to have been Ann BLATHERWICK, however, as he named his daughter, born in South Africa (see Family Search) Plestena Blatherwick YOUNGER.
