Emigrated as a child in the care of Thomas WAKEFORD, presumably a relative.

 

Death Notice (Cape Archives) says he died in January 1857, aged about 48. The Matrimonial Court Minutes for his marriage to Mary Ann KEEN in 1829, state he was then 22 years old.

William appears to have had a younger brother Joseph who also emigrated to the Cape. His Death Notice (Cape Archives) says he was born in Putney ca 1810. Although his parents are listed as Joseph and Mary rather than William and Mary, one of his children was given the middle name GREYHALL.
