Sir,
Being desirous of emigrating to the cape of Good Hope under the sanction of His Majesty's Government and being informed that applications by letter is the proper way have ventured to solicit information upon the future action required and also to enable me to understand whether I am competent to become a Candidate being by trade a Tailor but formerly and originally brought up to agricultural pursuits Age 32 Wife and 2 children one a Boy aged 8 the other a girl aged 10 years hoping this humble request will merit your answers and asking pardon for any improper method of application I beg to remain
