Margate, King Street. One of the oldest streets leading down to the harbour. In 1798 Hasted described Margate as “a poor fishing town built for the most part in the valley and adjoining the harbour, one narrow lane, now called King Street, being the principal street.” John MAYTHAM and Sarah MAXTED came from Margate.
