Notice to Creditors
In the Insolvent Estate of Charles BLAKEWAY and Edward MINTO, trading under the Firm of BLAKEWAY & MINTO, of Fort Beaufort, Shopkeepers.
All persons claiming to be Creditors under this estate are required to take notice that a Special Meeting of Creditors will be held before the Resident Magistrate at his office in Graham’s Town on the 15th day of October at 10 o’clock precisely, for the proof of debts and for the purpose of determining whether the Trustee shall be authorised to sign the certificate and discharge of Thomas KEEN and John SWAN, lately trading under the firm of KEEN & SWAN, isolvents, or otherwise.

In the Insolvent Estate of John WHITE, of Cradock, Butcher.
All persons claiming to be Creditors under this Estate are required to take notice that a Special Meeting of Creditors will be held before the Resident Magistrate at his Office, Graham’s Town, on the 12th day of November 1851 at 10 o’clock precisely, for the purpose of deciding whether the Trustee shall execute and abide by the purchase made by the said John WHITE, before his insolvency, of Mr. Ervin Henry SALMON, of a piece of Land, with the Buildings and erections thereon, situated in Jetty-street, Port Elizabeth, being part of the divided Erf No.1; or, otherwise, abandon the said purchase according to tenor of the 103rd section of the Ordnance No.6, 1843; and further for the purpose of consulting the Creditors respecting the best mode and way of disposing of the Effects in the Estate, and to advise with, and receive their directions in respect of the general administration of the Estate, pursuant to the 56th section of said Ordnance.

DIED at Winterberg on the 29th October 1851, Robert RORKE, aged 17 years and 5 months. His dead [sic] was by having received a severe wound in the groin on the 3rd August last, while he with 5 other young men bravely attacked a band of Rebel Hottentots whom they totally defeated. His dead was severely felt by his relations. His end was peace.

DIED at Fort Peddie on the 7th Nov, after 20 days severe suffering, Jessey, only daughter of James and Cordelia LONG, aged 1 year and 3 months.
Fort Peddie, 9th Nov 1851.

DIED at Fort Peddie on the 4th Nov 1851, Maria Eleanor, infant daughter of Mr. Frdk. Chs. And Emily WEBB, aged 3 months and 20 days.

DIED in Cradock from an attack of apoplexy, on Monday 10th inst, John PRATT, aged 81 years, born at Croft near Leicester; he was one of the original Settlers of 1820, was known as a mild, unassuming, conscientious and honest man, as such greatly respected by all who knew him. He was struck on Saturday afternoon, and died on Monday, near the same hour.
“An honest man, the noblest work of God.”

DIED at Fort Beaufort on the morning of the 17th inst, Charles Albert, youngest son of Mr. J.H. WINDELL, aged 11 months and two days.
