The Albany Library will be opened on Tuesday 10th May when His Honor the Lieut.Governor will preside at a Public Breakfast to be given at the Library. The band of the 91st Regt., which has been kindly lent for the occasion, will be in attendance.

DIED at Lang Kloof on Thursday 12th instant, Mr. Jacobus J. RADEMEYER, JP for the District of George, aged 52 years, 1 month and 7 days, deeply and universally regretted.

OBITUARY
Mr. Jacobus P. RADEMEYER, whose death took place on the 12th instant, has left a large circle of friends deeply lamenting his loss. Deceased was an old and tried servant of the public for many years, having rendered his personal services to the colony from his earliest years. He served with the commando under Colonel GRAHAM in 1812, when the Kafirs were driven from the Zuurverdt. In 1819 he joined the command under Colonel WILLSHIRE, as Field-cornet of George District, when he was 17 months away from his home. Upon the breaking out of the Kafir irruption of 1835 he immediately volunteered his services, and leaving his home in the month of January he proceeded with the George burghers with all expedition to the Frontier, with whom he joined Colonel SOMERSET at Bushman's River, and took part with his burghers in a sharp skirmish with the Kafirs in the Bushman's River poort, where the Kafirs, who were in considerable force, made a stout resistance, upon which occasion Lieut. O'REILLY was severely wounded. The division of the burghers under his orders thence proceeded along the coast, crossing the Fish River at Kafir drift, and occupied the heights above Trompeter's drift. On the 9th March 1835, while co-operating with a force under Colonel SOMERSET, acting in the defiles and passes of the Fish River Bush near Trompeter's Drift, he with only 45 men of his force came suddenly upon a very considerable body of Kafirs, strongly posted along the sides of a deep ravine. A fierce encounter immediately took place. In a very short period this gallant little body found themselves opposed by an increasing force of Kafirs from all points, with guns as well as assegais.

DIED at Fort Beaufort on the 14th instant, Major Edward MOLESWORTH, Barrack-master, aged 63 years. Deeply regretted by all who knew him.

Dissolution of Partnership
Mr. William SMITH having retired from the Partnership heretofore existing between him and Mr. Edward PARKER at Graham’s Town, it has this day been Dissolved by mutual consent. The Business of the late firm will be carried on by Mr. PARKER alone at his residence at the corner of St.George’s Church. All debts due to the late firm are to be paid to Mr. W. SMITH, who will pay all liabilities due by the late firm.
