Green Point and Hout Bay
It is in contemplation, we understand, to construct a waggon road from Green Point, or rather from Camp’s bay to Hout Bay. This would open up that fertile Valley to the Municipality of Green Point, and secure to the inhabitants for many months of the year a plentiful supply of the best vegetables. Cape Town would of course benefit by it also, and a delightful drive would be secured, for pleasure and health, at times when the South East hurricanes make excursions to the Eastwards impracticable.

72nd REGIMENT
We beg to call the attention of the Public to the circumstance that a considerable number of the 72nd Regiment, about to return to England, have purchased their discharge and intend to remain at the Cape, and we are informed that many more would do the same, could they raise the necessary funds. Loans to the men for this purpose would secure the men to this Colony, and would soon be repaid, as the men of this Regiment bear an excellent character. Being pressed for time we can only offer this suggestion at present.
